STEM Summer Program Delivering Imagination and Fun to Children’s Doorstep

Sponsored by the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Camp Invention Connect is a confidence-boosting, virtual STEM summer camp where curious children entering kindergarten through grade 6 build creative inventions and lasting friendships.

Led by qualified educators, this virtual camp offers new and exciting hands-on experiences every year. In 2024 children can attend a virtual session on June 24–28, July 8–12, or July 22–26, whichever time frame best suits their summer schedule.

Here’s how the virtual camp works:

An Innovator’s Toolkitfour themed kits packed with all the materials needed for this STEM summer camp experience—is shipped directly to the child’s home. With the set of kits providing tons of materials, Camp Invention Connect’s 2024 program, Recharge, offers hours of hands-on fun. Each kit brings a unique set of challenges inspired by world-changing inventors. Certified educator coaches help children make real connections through instruction, teamwork, and outdoor play.

For example, the Open Mic kit lets virtual campers take apart and rebuild their own wireless microphone, and amplify their big ideas to become creative entrepreneurs. They discover sound waves in action, hear from great inventors, and make a powerful pitch to promote their own amazing invention.

The Duck Chuck kit takes campers on a fun physics adventure in which they create and test a device to launch rubber ducks across the world. After earning “quack coins” to buy materials to build their devices, children send their ducks to visit famous landmarks, testing concepts such as trajectory and velocity.

With the SolarBot kit, campers make and adopt their own solar-powered, robotic crickets, jumping into experimenting with circuits and energy. Using empathy to consider the lives of real insects, they create custom habitats—including a fun-filled cricket playground—for their awesome bots.

The Road Rally kit helps campers learn how to adapt as they design morphing vehicles to race across land and add prototype elements for moving through air and water. With inspiration from cool creatures, including a “plantimal,” children modify their vehicles to submerge, soar, or sprint in a Super Road Rally.

Children can join a week of virtual camp sessions (four per day for five consecutive days) led by a qualified educator. Virtual session attendance is recommended but not required, so children can join all, some, or none of the sessions.

The cost is $270 for a week of action-packed virtual camp sessions and all the materials the camper will need. Even if a child doesn’t plan to join any virtual sessions, parents are encouraged to sign up for a specific week so they will receive the Innovator’s Toolkit and can save a spot for their child in the event they later decide to join one or more of the virtual sessions.
