Podcast That Shares a Passion for Storytelling with Young Readers

Award-winning children’s book authors Kate DiCamillo and Kelly Yang have launched StoryKind, a new podcast to spark the joy and connectivity of storytelling in children. The effort grew out of the authors’ shared concern about declining reading habits among children and their desire to inspire a renewed interest in reading and writing.

StoryKind is geared toward children aged 8 and older, as well as educators and parents. The weekly, 15-minute episodes are expressly designed for easy, inspiring listening. In each episode, Yang and DiCamillo share tips for writing, answer questions they receive from young readers, celebrate the hard work of teachers and librarians in literacy spaces, and spread the magic of real, human storytelling.

By interacting with fans and engaging with readers’ questions via the StoryKind podcast, Yang and DiCamillo are proactively inviting children into the conversation about shared creativity and connectivity through stories, action, and intention that mirrors many of the themes of their collective work—that anything is possible if you try. Their hope is that bite-sized conversations will reignite children’s love for longer stories, through reading and drafting their own stories.

StoryKind launched on January 19, 2026, and new episodes will be available weekly on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcast streaming platforms. Listeners can also follow along on Instagram @storykindpod.
