National Logic Challenge: Building Computational Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills

The 5th Annual 2024 National CodeWizardsHQ Logic Challenge is a free nationwide competition in which youth between the ages of 8 and 18 solve logic puzzles to win tech prizes, while building their computational thinking and problem-solving skills. Teachers can register their class for a chance to win a classroom grant of up to $250.

The challenge puzzles will run from September 30 to December 15, 2024. One puzzle will drop each week for ten weeks. Throughout the ten weeks, students will tackle the range of challenges tailored to their age group—Elementary, Middle, or High School level.

While completing the weekly challenges, students will build strong computational thinking skills: problem decomposition (breaking down complex problems into smaller, more manageable parts); pattern recognition (identifying trends and patterns that aid in problem-solving); abstraction (simplifying complex systems by reducing the problem to its core components); algorithmic thinking (developing step-by-step instructions for solving a problem or accomplishing a task); sequencing (determining the correct order of steps in a problem-solving process); logical reasoning (using rational thinking and systematic principles to arrive at a logical conclusion or solve a problem); and more.

The CodeWizardsHQ Logic Challenge offers an engaging and rewarding way for young minds to develop these valuable skills, preparing them for success in the digital world.
