StudentCam, C-SPAN’s annual video documentary competition, encourages students to think critically about issues that affect their communities and the nation. In 2024, C-SPAN is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the competition by asking students in grades 6–12 to create a short video documentary on a topic that relates to the theme Looking Forward While Considering the Past.
Students’ documentaries should include clips of supporting or opposing C-SPAN video that relate to their chosen topic. Entries should also include either end credits or a Works Cited list. Students may compete individually or in teams of two or three members.
With cash prizes totaling $100,000 each year, C-SPAN awards prizes to the student filmmakers of the top 150 student documentaries. And this year, in honor of StudentCam’s twentieth anniversary, C-SPAN is offering an additional $50,000 in award money, with the first 500 teacher advisers (with qualifying student entries) receiving a $100 cash award just for participating.
Deadline: All submissions should be received by 11:59 p.m. (PST) on January 19, 2024.
