FRESHFARM FoodPrints integrates gardening, cooking, and nutrition education into the curriculum through a model of partnerships, standards-based curriculum, cafeteria connections, and food access. Expert educators teach hands-on lessons that get students excited about growing, preparing, and enjoying fresh, local whole foods—and bring science, math, and social studies to life—with the goal of improving health outcomes of children and families.
The 63 interdisciplinary lessons in the FoodPrints curriculum are aligned with academic and food education standards. They are sequenced according to seasonal topics and adaptable for a range of uses—from programming across the school year to supplementing classroom education and providing enrichment. They can also be used to provide garden-based or culinary-based learning. All of the lessons are free with registration.
Teachers can view the 63 lessons by theme or grade, or they can search and filter by category. The lesson categories are “Understand Plant Parts,” “Habitats & Life Cycles,” “Soil Health,” “Health & Nutrition,” “Growing Food Through the Seasons,” “Food Culture & Family Traditions,” “Conservation & Social Justice,” “Applying Math in the Garden Kitchen,” and “Food History & Technology.”
