Leveling the Playing Field (LPF) furnishes schools and community organizations with free sports equipment, enabling those groups to provide affordable and accessible sports activities for children who otherwise would not have such opportunities. LPF has saved more than 1,600 programs over $11 million since its inception in 2013.
To qualify for the equipment, the school or community organization must serve economically disadvantaged children, or children or adults with disabilities. The organization must operate (or wish to operate) as an organized sport, recreational activities, or fitness program that offers consistent and structured opportunities for play to large groups of children. The intent of the program should be to provide free or low-cost enrichment programs for its participants. The program must also provide a youth development component; LPF does not support organizations with the sole focus of “on the field performance.” LPF staff will review the application and then schedule an in-person site visit to tour the facility.
Deadlines: Rolling. Organizations need apply only once for an equipment grant. After they are in the system, they do not need to reapply.
