Are your students ready for the age of artificial intelligence? aiEDU creates equitable learning experiences that build foundational AI literacy. The nonprofit is focused on reaching the students and communities that are being left out of opportunities to benefit from the rapid digitization of our economy and society.
aiEDU’s short, engaging AI Challenges are designed for high school students to influence how AI works, experiment with AI in their lives, and share their findings with their community. Students can try five AI Challenges. Challenge 1: Can they prove they’re smarter than ChatGPT? Challenge 2: Can they design 10 ways to fool their phone’s face recognition? Challenge 3: Can they take their TikTok algorithm from mid tier to top tier? Challenge 4: Can they figure out how Instagram ranks their posts? And Challenge 5: Can they get AI to create images the world has never seen before?
Teachers can browse the AI Project Dashboard with a variety of engaging projects for high school students. They can choose from a mix of independent and teacher-led projects in a variety of subjects to encourage critical thinking and build student confidence around AI. For example, ChatGPT claims to generate humanlike text, but how can we use, understand, and evaluate it? Students in grades 9 and 10 can team up to create a podcast interviewing ChatGPT to analyze its uses. Students in grades 11 and 12 can actively debate whether it is possible for AI to have common sense. They will get a sneak peek into the cutting-edge techniques researchers are using to teach machines common sense and take a stand on a pressing question related to that topic. All of the projects help students build confidence around AI, develop their voice, and think critically about technology.
