Is there an aspect of your language program you would like to improve? Do you want to learn more about how program evaluation can help you achieve your goals? The Center for Applied Linguistics’ (CAL) 2023 STARTALK teacher-training program is now open to teachers of Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, and Russian languages across the United States. The program is entirely free for participants.
STARTALK Excellent Language Program Evaluation is a fully virtual program that lets participants earn continuing education credits while they learn how to conduct evaluations that will help them make positive changes to their programs. This training program will take place from April 2023 to January 2024.
Through synchronous and asynchronous online learning opportunities, participants will gain foundational knowledge about the purposes and uses of program evaluation. They will learn methods for collecting data, and ultimately design and implement their own mini program evaluations to ensure that their programs are aligned with their goals and are being implemented effectively. Program participants may also be eligible to receive a travel stipend to attend a language program evaluation conference in Washington, DC, in January 2024. Applications are due by March 10, 2023.
