The New England Aquarium’s Blue Impact video series expands students’ knowledge of climate change and helps students draw connections between climate change and changes in the oceans. The videos present the challenges ocean animals face from global climate change and describe how communities are working together to make a difference for the blue planet.
Human systems—like energy production, agriculture, transportation, and manufacturing—are interdependent with the ecosystems and habitats that support life, including the oceans. Students see how rising ocean temperatures affect corals and sea turtles. They discover the science of booming jelly populations. They see how changes in weather affect shorebirds and learn how whales’ food sources are changing.
The aquarium’s website also hosts Take Action! videos and a freely downloadable Glossary, as well as student sheets and teacher answer keys to accompany each video.
