The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, has partnered with Exelon Foundation in championing science learning for high school students and in encouraging new thinking about the environment. Out-of-school-time providers are invited to develop a STEM Lab for the future aimed at tackling solutions to the environmental crisis, with a minds-on approach and hands-on science skills.
Recipients of the Exelon Foundation Green Lab Grant will receive up to $50,000 to create or modernize new or existing spaces with interactive activities grounded in science, technology, math, and/or engineering. The goal is to provide high school–aged youth from traditionally underrepresented areas with access to labs with new and/or updated equipment, as well as to encourage a deeper understanding of how technology can be leveraged to promote environmental sustainability.
The grant will provide teachers with opportunities to promote youth problem solving and creativity using new technologies and to foster career exposure and opportunities in Exelon Foundation’s service areas. Afterschool programs that primarily serve high school students in Title I–eligible schools, or populations meeting similar criteria, are eligible to apply for the Exelon Foundation Green Lab Grant.
Deadline: Applications are due by September 26, 2022.
