Applications are now open for the MyImpact Challenge, a civic engagement contest hosted by the Bill of Rights Institute. Teachers and students can receive up to $10,000 for projects to benefit their communities. Each submission must include an essay of up to 1,200 words expressing the student’s understanding of the ideal of “E Pluribus Unum” and how their project furthers that ideal in their community, as well as how their project furthers at least one of the Bill of Rights Institute’s Civic Virtues and Founding Principles. A report of up to 2,000 words detailing a student’s completed or in-progress civic engagement project must also be submitted. The report should include the inspiration for the project, the project plan, details of the project’s execution, at least two examples of the project’s demonstrated impact on the community, and ways student(s) grew in understanding the role of Civic Virtue and knowledge of their communities and their ability to support or impact them. Visual documentation of the student’s project and its results may be photographic, video, or mixed photographic and video.
Deadline: Essays and supporting materials must be submitted by May 1, 2022.
