QuickClasses, from Described and Caption Media Program (DCMP), are three-week asynchronous, online classes for professionals working with students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, low vision, or deaf–blind. Participants can choose their preferred time during the week to work online and meet weekly deadlines. The required work will take approximately five hours per week to complete. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate for 15 continuing education credits. The following QuickClasses are offered from September 21 to October 11, 2020:
“Using Accessible Media in the Classroom With Students Who Are Deaf and Hard of Hearing”
“Using Accessible Media in the Classroom With Students Who Are Blind and Visually Impaired”
Both QuickClasses explore the benefits of using media in the classroom and explain the importance of accessible media for students with sensory impairments, as well as students with and without disabilities. Participants will learn ways to evaluate the quality of accessibility features and various techniques for utilizing media to enhance classroom instruction. The online classes are free of charge and fully accessible.
