Invention Education: Preparing Students for a Future Yet to Be Invented

InventEd is a coalition of K–12 educators, nonprofit leaders, researchers, government agencies, funders, and others who are building the field of invention education by sharing resources and working together to develop awareness and understanding of invention education.

Are you getting ready to launch a new invention education program in your classroom this year, or looking to improve your existing program? InventEd’s new Get Started Checklist for Teachers walks educators through the steps to successfully implement invention education through six categories: Preparing for Instruction, Planning Instruction, Differentiation, Implementing Instruction, Assessing Learning, and Building Community. By following this list, teachers can transform their classroom into a collaborative space that ignites students’ love of learning and helps them build the skills they need for the future.

The checklist and many more materials to get started are available for free on the InventEd website, including a one-page overview of invention education for sharing with administrators, parents, and anyone interested in this “inventive” approach to learning.
