The Wharton Global Youth Program mobilizes the extensive opportunities of the academic community at University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School to educate and inspire precollegiate students to explore business practices, analyze the world’s complex challenges, and take the first steps in becoming leaders who will transform the global economy.
Wharton Global Youth Online Programs are immersive experiences for students currently enrolled in grades 9–11. Led by Wharton faculty and instructional staff, these programs explore topics driven by Wharton research and teaching. Students get the chance to engage with Wharton’s business educators while studying and networking with global peers, all before they head to college.
Eight online programs are offered for summer 2025: “Future of the Business World” (innovation, entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, product design); “Essentials of Leadership” (leadership, teamwork, management); “Financial Decision Making” (finance, economics); “Moneyball Training Camp” (statistics, sports analytics); “Sports Business Academy” (leadership, management, marketing, sports business); “Moneyball FLEX” (statistics, sports analytics); “Understanding Your Money” (personal finance, investing), as well as a “Pre-Baccalaureate Program.”
In addition, Global Youth Meetup (GYM), a creative, co-curricular community, is open to online summer students as a way for them to connect with one another—and Wharton—before, during, and after their programs. Featuring both live and independent programming, GYM is designed to ensure virtual participants don’t miss out on valuable community building and networking. GYM is included in all online summer programs, except “Understanding Your Money.”
Plus, the Global Youth Program’s Comment & Win competition, which runs annually from June to August, encourages high school–aged students to discover Global Youth stories, podcasts, and videos; learn about business and finance; and develop stronger reflective and persuasive commenting skills. The competition has four biweekly rounds, with a new theme introduced each round. Students can choose to participate in one or two rounds, or in all four. Competitors who participate in all four rounds are entered into the running for a special Grand Prize. A free downloadable Comment & Win Classroom Guide and the Comment & Win Educator Toolkit offer teachers inspiration to engage their students with the contest.
