Each year Engineers Week (Eweek) unites engineers, students, and communities across the nation to celebrate how engineering shapes our world. Founded by National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in 1951, EWeek is more than a week of recognition; it’s also a movement to inspire the next generation of innovators, spotlight the impact of the engineering profession, and strengthen connections across the engineering community.
NSPE collaborates with DiscoverE and a coalition of more than 70 engineering, education, and cultural organizations (as well as 50 corporations and agencies) to build awareness, spark curiosity, and celebrate the engineers who make a difference every day.
DiscoverE engineers share a common desire: to help elementary school and high school students discover the exciting worlds of engineering and technology. Their goal is to relate practical applications of math, science, and engineering to the world around them. The information in this DiscoverE section will help you plan activities for Engineers Week (February 22–28, 2026) or anytime you work with students.
Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (February 26, 2026) helps focus a growing movement to inspire girls’ futures so they learn they have a place in engineering a better world. In just one day, you can make a difference by sharing your knowledge and experience. Give girls the chance to think like an engineer and you’ll be amazed at what you learn.
An international day with celebrations across the world is an opportunity to increase the profile of engineering. The day is also an opportunity to engage with government and industry to address the need for engineering capacity and the quality of engineers around the world and to develop strategic frameworks and best practices for the implementation of engineering solutions for sustainable development. The celebration of World Engineering Day (March 4, 2026) is also about promoting engineering as a career and as an opportunity to change the world for the better.
No matter where you are in your engineering journey—from student to seasoned professional—you have a role to play. Whether you host a classroom visit, volunteer with your state society, mentor a student, or share your engineering story online, your participation helps amplify the message that engineering changes lives. Explore the Eweek resources and join in celebrating the people and possibilities that power tomorrow’s world.
